Laverne spent many years being the sole healthcare provider for his wife, Patricia when she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. I had the privilege of working with Frank for many years.
He grew up there with his 3 brothers and 3 sisters and where he also raised his family. I grew up on a farm near Laverne and graduated with his sister Lola. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

He was the person people turned to when they had a question about the city or the city cemetery. Pit also worked for Floyd Rhiel and his ambulance service. In 1971 he continued with the Durand Ambulance Service when the City of Durand took it over.
I was in his classroom supporting students with special needs. I loved the way he taught students to think and to use their voices. He was an amazing teacher he will never be forgotten. Our sympathy and prayers for your family. Our deepest sympathies on the loss of Frank.
Offering dignified services since 1919
I will be forever grateful for having known Frank. Know that you are in our prayers at this time of loss in your family. Let the fond memories you have help you through. Laverne was born on February 28, 1936 in the Town of Lima, rural Durand. He was the son of Andrew and Eleanor Sabelko.
He showed compassion to students who needed it without effort. It was an honor to know, teach with and admire Frank during our many years together at LUHS. He was a wonderful man and a natural teacher, who cared for and was energized by his students.
Joanie and family, we are so sorry to hear of this loss. Your are in our thoughts and prayers. Many happy memories of camping and for Wally with the fire service. Rhiel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Durand, is serving the family.
He also served as an active advisor for school clubs Teen Court, Mock Trial, and Model UN, leading students to regional, national, and international competitions and conferences. Dedicated to student achievement through academic rigor and experiential education, he gave maximum effort to that cause, and expected nothing less in return. May all of the wonderful memories you have, and the prayers of those who support you, bring you comfort. Stanley worked for the CMSTP&P and SOO Line Railroads as a section foreman for many years as well as operating the family farm. He retired from railroading on May 28, 1993.
Stanley loved life and enjoyed many different activities. He and Doris spent countless hours playing cards with friends and family. He attended multiple church and school programs and concerts for children and grandchildren. Stanley loved seeing his grandchildren and great grandchildren and they loved him. Pit started his journey in fire service by joining the Durand Fire Department in March of 1966. In all he served 56 years on the department, 32 of those as Chief.
Prayers to all the family and friends. I'm sorry to hear about the passing of Larry. Sympathy to the family during this difficult time. I'm sorry to hear of your passing, Gary.
My thoughts and prayers are with Pit's family. I wish you comfort in the coming days. My condolences to his family, he will be missed by many. Thinking of you all during this difficult time. My ties are to Joanie and young Larry. As a retired firefighter and fishing friend I had the utmost respect for him.
Sports played a big part in Pit’s life, playing coaching and refereeing. Pit married Bette Davis, together they had 5 children and later divorced. Pit worked for Tri-City Dairy delivering milk to businesses, schools and homes, maintenance at the Durand Methodist Church and retired in 2001 from St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
